Influenza Type A and B Antibodies

Test code(s) 7250X

Anti-complement activity is observed when a component in the patient serum fixes or destroys complement in the absence of any added test antigen. Therefore, the results obtained in the complement fixation assay are inconclusive.  Anti-complement activity may be due to a number of factors such as circulating immune complexes, immunoglobulin aggregation, rheumatoid factors, hemolysis, excessive freezing and thawing, detergent or microbial contamination in the specimen, and some medications.

Consider ordering Influenza Virus Type A Antibody (IgG, IgM), or, Influenza Type A and B RNA, Qualitative, Real-Time RT-PCR.
