Cybercrime and fraud scams can happen. It’s important to know the facts to protect yourself and loved ones against these scams. At Quest, we take information security very seriously and work to stop scams to the best of our ability; however, they are run by bad actors who operate out of our control.

Fake websites and email scams

Scammers have been posing as Quest Diagnostics to steal information or money. A common scam technique is to create a website that looks like a Quest website, including the Quest logo. These fake websites can appear in Google searches. You may also receive fraudulent phishing emails to your personal email account with a link to a fake website.

Always verify the sender before clicking links or sharing personal information. If you are not able to confirm an email is legitimate, please enter https://www.questdiagnostics.com into your browser. That will take you to the QuestDiagnostics.com home page. From there, click on "Patients" and then look for "Pay Your Bill" to be directed to a secure webpage to pay your bill.  You may also go directly to the billing page at https://patientbill.questdiagnostics.com/home.

Phone scams

Quest urges patients to be aware of phone scams as well. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from Quest Diagnostics and ever doubt the legitimacy of the call, especially if payment is demanded, please hang up and contact our customer service directly or call the number listed on your bill.

Quest Diagnostics will never do the following:

  • Ask you to pay via cryptocurrency or virtual currencies
  • Ask you for passwords over the phone
  • Ask for payment or refund via Zelle or Venmo
  • Refund overpayments to a gift card for another corporation, such as Target or Amazon, or through another company's app
  • Refund via any gift card
  • Ask a caller to share their screen or use a screen-sharing app

Employment drug testing scams

Protect yourself from employment drug testing scams. If an employer is requesting upfront payment for drug testing as part of your employment onboarding and hiring process, this is likely a scam. A prepaid card to cover drug testing fees is generally a sign of a fake employment scheme. Employers typically arrange and pay for testing directly. Please use caution and be aware.

If you believe you have been impacted by a scam, contact us at 908.900.4475 or create a billing inquiry here. We also encourage you to contact the proper authorities. Report the incident to your local law enforcement, and the Federal Trade Commission or the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
