Social Distancing, Tick Borne Disease and COVID-19: What They Have in Common

Description: Dr Jones describes the impact COVID-19 has on tick borne disease, including the impact of social distancing, explains the overlapping and the clinical utilization and algorithms for polymerase chain symptoms reaction (PCR) antibody testing to identify tick borne diseases, and identify the Lyme disease antibody with reflex to immunoassay (IgG, IgM) test. He also discusses the test utilization in conjunction with the updated Center for Disease Control guidelines for the serological diagnosis of Lyme disease.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

    Describe the impact COVID-19 has on tick borne disease, including the impact of social distancing 

    Explain the overlapping symptoms and the clinical utilization and algorithms for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) antibody testing to identify tick borne diseases 

    Identify the Lyme disease antibody with reflex to immunoassay (IgG, IgM) test 

    Discuss test utilization in conjunction with the updated Center for Disease Controls guidelines for the serological diagnosis of Lyme disease
