Quest Joins White House Hepatitis Testing Day Event

Quest Joins White House Hepatitis Testing Day Event

We’re proud that Rick Pesano, MD, PhD, Quest Diagnostics Vice President, Research and Development, and Medical Director, Infectious Diseases, was invited to take part in “Responding to Viral Hepatitis in the US,” yesterday’s 2016 National Hepatitis Testing Day program at the White House. Led by Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Michael Botticelli and Acting Assistant Secretary for Health Karen DeSalvo, the event included discussions about America’s Opioid Crisis Fueling Increases in Viral Hepatitis and Expanding Treatment of HIV and Hepatitis Co-infection, and panelists discussed President Obama’s National Hepatitis Testing Day proclamation. As part of the observance, President Obama issued a proclamation recognizing National Hepatitis Testing Day 2016. In it, he called on all of us to “rededicate ourselves to ensuring all people with viral hepatitis know their infection status and have access to necessary care and resources.” He also encouraged “citizens, Government agencies, non-profit organizations, and communities across the Nation to join in activities that will increase awareness about viral hepatitis and the need for expanded testing.”At Quest, we support the President’s commitment to “ensuring all people with viral hepatitis know their infection status and have access to necessary care and resources.” Click here to read more about the White House’s observance of Hepatitis Testing Day.
