Quest Genetic Counselors Bring Insight to Genetic Testing

Maybe you have heard of genetic counseling, or perhaps you have heard how understanding your genetics can help you manage your health. Genetic Counselors (GCs) are healthcare professionals who help others understand genomic information and how that information impacts their health risks and their medical management. As medical specialists with training in medical genetics and counseling, GCs may work in many capacities including both clinical and laboratory settings. In fact, Quest Diagnostics employs more than 30 genetic counselors who are board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Quest GCs work in many areas within the company including: Women’s Health, Oncology, Neurology, Cytogenetics, Cardiovascular Disease, Molecular Genetics, Biochemical Genetics, Personalized Medicine, and Annotation Science.GCs are trained to translate complex genetic information into useful and understandable information that both providers and patients can use for health management. Quest GCs also partner with the franchises to develop educational information, marketing collateral, publications, and abstracts to showcase Quest’s expertise in the field of genetics and genomics.  Over the last few years, some GCs have expanded their roles to include manager, account executive, and sales trainer.
