My Quest Story - Carol Ann Mandichak

In July of 2018, I relocated back to my home state of California to help my brother care for our mother, who suffered with Alzheimer’s disease.

I started working with Quest Diagnostics in October of 2018. My first job duties with Quest were as a Route Service Representative (RSR), STAT position.

My purpose was to learn as much as possible about being a STAT RSR. My strategy was to learn as many other job functions as part of the logistics staff. I figured this was a way to get to know our business and achieve success for future growth as a team member at Quest.

My current position is Specialty RSR. To date, I have trained 17 new STAT RSRs. When I’m training, the primary focus is always on the importance of customer service when dealing with both our clients and our patients. Even as part of the logistics team, I get the opportunity to help patients directly at our PSCs (Patient Service Centers), whether helping at the check-in kiosks, giving directions to other PSC locations, or answering other questions. It is rewarding to be there for them.

Bringing my best attitude and wearing a smile going into our PSCs and client offices make for smooth interactions and lasting impressions. I know every specimen represents one of our patients. Being thorough with patients' specimen pickups means never missing specimens and always getting the temperature of each specimen correct.

My personal mantra is there is always a way, and that has served me well during my career at Quest! It’s how I practice the Quest Way and is in my mind every day while performing work duties.
