Governance, ethics, and compliance

What are the guiding principles of Quest Diagnostics? First and foremost, we’re a patient- and customer-centric company. The work we do impacts the lives of people, so we hold ourselves to a rigorous standard. We also conduct our business in a transparent and forthright manner. That said, we invite you to learn more.

Corporate governance

There are 2 main drivers of corporate performance: financial results and the behavior that produces the results. We aim for both strong results and high ethical behavior, driven by the culture we value. View the 5 culture principles we strive to live by here. Also click here to view Quest's corporate governance guidelines.

Ethics and compliance

The Code of Ethics describes the standards of business conduct required of all Quest Diagnostics employees, executive officers, and directors. This Code reflects our Company's Purpose and the behaviors we value.

Enterprise risk management

Taking risks is an important part of doing business. Managing them is just as critical. That's why we have a formal, company-wide risk management program in place.

Commitment to quality

Our goal is to provide every patient with services and products of superior quality, becoming the undisputed leader in the diagnostics information services industry. Click here to learn more about our approach and program.

License and accreditations

All Quest Diagnostics testing locations are appropriately licensed/certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA 88) and as required by certain State laboratory licensure programs. In addition, Quest Diagnostics Regional and Esoteric Reference Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). See our accreditation and licensure information here.

Responsible marketing

Quest Diagnostics is committed to responsible, ethical sales and marketing practices for our services, and to providing accurate and balanced information about our company’s products and services worldwide. We aspire to high standards and integrity in our sales and marketing activities and to comply with all laws and regulations regarding the promotion, sales, and marketing of our services. Our commitment is embedded in our Code of Ethics. We follow internal policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures for interactions with healthcare providers and promotional communication, and have strong internal review processes, training, and compliance programs. Our policies require employees to report concerns or suspected violations regarding sales or marketing, and we investigate any issues raised.

Freedom of Association

Quest is committed to respecting its employees’ freedom of association consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. In accordance with such laws, Quest respects employees’ rights to freely choose whether or not they wish to be represented by any association/union, bargain collectively, and engage in other concerted activities for mutual aid and protection. The Company is further committed to creating an environment of open communication in which associates can speak with their managers about their ideas, concerns, or problems and work together to address workplace issues. We encourage our employees to share their ideas, concerns, or suggestions through a culture of care and collaboration. Where our employees have chosen to be represented by a labor organization, the Company respects that choice and bargains in good faith related to employees’ terms and conditions of employment. At all of our locations, employees are able to communicate openly with management about terms and conditions of employment without threat of harassment, intimidation, or reprisal. We also require all of our suppliers to comply with federal, state, and local laws, including those related to employee freedom of association.
